Needed to cook a bit longer because I used fresh uncooked apples. It turned out so good my man ate I've 1/3 of it in one sitting. It's a shock because he doesn't care for sweets. I will make this again and again because it's so easy for me, a person with bad neck and back issues, to make. I'm going to try the batter with other fruits.

Super easy to make. I used a can of Lucky's fried apples with cinnamon. My family and I ate it all.

Only change I made was not adding the extra sugar at the end. My husband says it's the best he's ever had and has asked for it again. I'm not a cook. But I love to bake. He has never asked me to make something again with such sincere enthusiasm! This will be a repeat dessert for sure at our house.

Good quick recipe. Used can of apple pie filling in place of plain apples. Reduced sugar to 3/4 cup and did not add sugar on top. This is very buttery tasting with 1/2 cup of butter. You may want to reduce if you do not like a strong butter taste.

I'd give it 6 stars if I could. I followed this recipe to the 'T' and did not change a thing in the recipe. It turned out fabulous! I really thought it would be far too sweet, but to my surprise and my husband's, it was a real winner with us. Definitely a keeper!

This was good! I added 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp nutmeg to the batter. To the 5 fresh, small Granny Smith apples, I added 1/2 cup dried cranberries. To the topping, I added 1/2 cup oatmeal, and 1-2 tablespoons chopped walnuts. I left out the water, because I forgot. ??

There was definitely too much butter, the batter ended up too gooey because of the excess butter I think, there was no separation really when I poured the batter on top of the butter. The taste itself it great (although I did add a bit of nutmeg to the batter as others suggested). I will try it again at some point with much less butter, hopefully that will correct the issue.

Definitely a good recipe for Yule!!

I made this on a whim after I realized the apples I harvested from the yard wouldn't amount to enough for an apple pie. I searched All Recipes and had all these ingredients all ready. I did mix it all together once in the pan (the butter at the bottom was kind of unsettling and I wasn't sure how it would bake out.) Is added sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg to the top and it gave it such a beautiful "crust" on top and oh so tasty! My husband isnt much for sweets, but really enjoyed this recipe. I plan to use it with other fruits from our back yard though the summers... pears, plums and respberries!

Delicious! I used a an 1/8 of water at the end and used half the amount of sugar on top. It was really tasty and flavorful.

Very easy and great for a special after meal treat. Tasted great and was an instant hit. I will keep this recipe and use it again.

Really loved the way the apple cobbler turned out.

It was easy to make. I thought the amount of butter called for was excessive. Next time I will add more peach slices and cut back on the butter. A good recipe.

everyone loved this dessert. was simple to make. My only suggestion would be put a piece of foil over it about 10 minutes before it's done so it doesn't get too brown on top. I will be making again!

Super easy! And I had all the ingredients. I added vanilla cuz you can't go wrong with a little vanilla. I should have used a deeper dish because the batter rose and overflowed a bit. Also I thinly sliced fresh apples and cooked just a bit longer.

I didn't get the water thing so I skipped it. Used half the butter. We loved it!

First time making cobbler! Made it for a work event and won 3rd place in the baking contest! I did have to simmer the apples in a saucepan with butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar to soften them before baking.

I had been given some containers of cooked spiced apples...a lot of them so I was looking for something to make. This worked wonders. I have made it twice now and it never lasts long.

I used leftover apple compote with the batter from this recipe. It was decent but I think next time I will use a crumble recipe instead.

love it. it is very easy

I used Granny Smith and Honeycrisps and it came out awesome!

I had to increase the baking time, but other than that it was a great recipe, easy and tasty. I served it with vanilla ice cream and everyone enjoyed it.

Basic recipe works well but I spiced it up and it came out perfectly. I used fresh, thinly sliced apples and tossed them in a little brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger power and nutmeg. I added about a tsp and a half to the batter along with more cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger (I'm a measure with your heart kind of girl but probably about a tsp of cinnamon, 1/2tsp of nutmeg and 1/2 tsp of ginger). For the topping, instead of white sugar I used 1/4 cup brown sugar and cinnamon. Delicious!

I added chopped pecans at the end. I used subbed stevia for sugar. I subbed Lactaid free milk for regular milk. I dashed it with nutmeg, allspice and clove. I used 4 small red sliced thin apples (recipe for 8). I made it for my diabetic parents, they loved it!

It was good.. Could have been better.. I made it exactly according to the recipe and next time I will add more apples..

I have been looking for a cobbler recipe that is easy and delicious, this is the one! I made one change by adding 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg. I'll definitely make this my standard recipe. I added homemade caramel on top after baking, a scoop of vanilla ice cream seals the deal.

I cut back on the butter and used a 7x11 pan and baked for 1 hour. came out great will use this recipe again
12/26/2019
Delicious! I'll definitely make it again! The only change I made was not adding the extra sugar. I really didn't think it needed it.

This is a great crowd pleaser! I added some blueberries and nuts which gave it a little crunch. I will make it again and use peaches too!

Super easy! I doubled the recipe and used a 9/13 pan. Also cheated and used canned pie filling. Made apple and blueberry for a Father's Day gathering.

this recipe was OK. I did not put in the water and it still turned out a little wet. the consistency was a little hard, and the apple flavor didn't come through very well. I will not make this again.

Delicious and super easy to prepare i made it with fresh apples instead of can apples and it is delicious

This turned out really well. My kids loved it and keep asking me to make it again.

I tried to make it twice. Both times I ended up with a big soupy mess. The butter in the bottom overwhelmed the batter, then when the apples went on top, the butter did the same to the apples. I'm not sure why the interior didn't bake or firm up. I have made other cobblers with similar instructions but without all that butter that turned out beautiful.
12/29/2018
Wonderful!! Sooo easy, too! I think adding the water & sugar-cinnamon combination was perfect! Left topping moist, not hard like some recipes I've tried! Thanks! :))!!
11/22/2017
I followed the instructions exactly and it was okay, but it turned out dry and rubbery.
09/13/2018
It turned out all goey and fudgy... Not good. It was literally liquid
11/27/2017
Made it just as recipe stated and it turned out great.
12/25/2017
I used fresh apples that I just cooked some

I don't know what went awry here. I followed the recipe exactly. It came out wet, mushy, and disgusting. I even tried baking it longer and it didn't help. The top got brown but the inside was still wet and gushy. I don't understand the reason for pouring water on top before baking it.

I cooked mine in a casserole dish. I had a bunch of apples going soft, so I chopped them up and loaded them on top of the batter. I love it. Very tasty, and a great way to use up old apples. I usually go for apple crisp, but had no oats.

It was quick and easy to make - I substituted flour with gluten free baking mix (Aldi) - worked great!
