I don't know where you got the idea that there was any difference in the end outcome with 1 method vs another, or that there was some reason to install Rockbox on a player which already has Rockbox on it. Your chasing your tail here, you already have Rockbox installed. Fifty-fifty the method you're attempting to use now requires the .rockbox folder on the bill of fare. There'due south no reason to exercise what you're trying to do.

Thanks Riolist2 for confirming my suspicion.

Now I tin focus in upon usability features of the Rockbox. I am Then very impressed with getting high quality dorsum into portable music,

Kind regards,
Ian

Well, Got another empty SD card and formated with fat32, fifty-fifty though the quondam i showed fat32 in its properly.

Followed the instructions and placed the new SD bill of fare in the XDUOO X3 and information technology booted upward in Rockbox. Then moved the files from the old card to the new one and so far all is well. But need to go used to the new screen.

Thanks to the community.

I've had my X3 suddenly die on me.  It was Rockboxed but seems to be a hardware failure.  Was listening to it when it went dead.  Plugging into USB gets no response and ability button is same.  I emailed tomtop but they seem to be avoiding a return.  I guess it lasted six months just withal kind of disappointing.

Sounds like hardware failure, but I would try this: with no headphones and no micro SD plugged in, put a pin in the reset hole, and then plug in a charger, hold the reset for at least a full infinitesimal, so release the reset with the charger still plugged in.

Hi guys. HELP!!!

My role player has been off for a couple of days. And and so when I go to turn it on today. only now, I got an error bulletin something like "PANIC! ...dircache" or words to that result across the screen - my eye sight isn't the best and the small xters made it difficult to make ou exactly - especially as I did panic & tried shutting it off immediately and then I could endeavor turning information technology back on again.

After switching it off I tried to plow it on again, and now it is stuck on the loading screen which says:
'xDuoo Audio'
'Digital Audio Role player'

Information technology seems at present like it is completely frozen! The buttons are not responding at all. I have tried to exercise a manufacturing plant reset with a paper prune in the reset hole and nix is working!!! I take tried the tip about switching it on while holding the choice push. Nil!

I accept tried connecting it to my PC using the supplied USB cable. That is also not making whatever departure. It's simply frozen.

I've had the first part happen, the "Panic dir cache... that's a Rockbox error, just hitting the ability button again immediately rebooted Rockbox and all was well. Try booting into the original firmware past setting the lock switch, and then put a pin in the reset hole and hold it there, it should at least power down if yous hold it long enough. If it does power downwardly, hit the power push button with the lock switch on to kicking into the original firmware.

Hi Riolist2, thank you for prompt response volition try your tips that right now... cheers

*fingers crossed*

I'm afraid none of this is having whatever effect at all. It'southward completely stuck on the 'xDuoo Audio' Digital Sound Player' screen and won't budge. Every unmarried push is inactive, they make the usual clicking sounds but nothing is happening -  fifty-fifty the reset pigsty is having zero consequence.
Getting rather deplorable now....

How long are yous property the reset?

How long are you holding the reset?

Variable, usually betwixt 10 to 30 seconds or upwards to a to minute, each time. Doing resets while information technology is asunder from my PC - does it have to exist connected via USB cable to do a successful reset?

Have also tried to practise the resets with the mini SD carte du jour (in slot 1) in,  and with the mini SD card out no difference so far

Thinking near leaving it USB-connected to the PC and charging for a while to see what outcome, if any, that might take...

Variable, usually between 10 to 30 seconds or up to a to infinitesimal, each time

And the screen stays on the whole fourth dimension? Endeavour connecting a power supply (usb charger) and hitting the reset repeatedly, holding and releasing for a few seconds each (3 on, 3 off, 3 on etc.)

Riolist2, I just saw your mail. on my ain initiative I had already washed your almost recent proffer (striking the reset repeatedly with charger connected) - hoooray!  That has eventually turned information technology off!!!! The screen is now blank. *and so it's small progress*

At present challenge is how do I turn it back on without freezing it ?   - currently it is on a charger, only the screen is still bare, i.east. no sign of life withal!!! Problem is now I'm not sure whether lock should be on or off, while charging? or while attempting a reboot?

I would get out information technology on the charger, set the lock switch on then it boots to the original firmware, remove the sd carte du jour to eliminate a decadent file as a variable, and hitting (and hold) the power button...

Oh, one more than thing, since it's on the charger but with no charging screen, I would keep hitting the reset button to encounter if you can get it back to a charging state before you lot reboot.

An alternative method of trying to get back to a charging state is to unplug and replug the charger a few time and run into if the bombardment blitheness reappears. If it does I would try to power on.
